Herniated Disc
Definition
A spinal disc whose tough outer layer has torn, so that the soft inner filling pushes out, often onto a nearby nerve. It is one of the most common causes of a pinched nerve and of sciatica. Daily wear and tear, spinal misalignment, long hours of sitting, sports or other injuries, disc degeneration and lifting the wrong way can all lead to one. Dr. Moe Abtahi cares for patients with herniated discs at Family Chiropractic in Ramsey, NJ, without surgery.
